I say this because of the furor and fury around Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old black boy who was shot dead by George Zimmerman in Florida. The victim was unarmed, but the shooter not charged because the police argued it was self-defence. Martin was immediately painted as a living saint and Zimmerman a thug and bully.
New evidence is emerging, however, that Martin punched Zimmerman in the face and then repeatedly pounded his head on the ground, before any shots were fired.
None of this mattered, of course, as the usual race pimps and inverted racists, such as Al Sharpton, weighed in, and the New Black Panthers broke the law, uttered threats and screamed. They were aided in this by the increasingly hysterical and exploitative President Barack Obama, who made some absurd comment about Trayvon Martin looking like the son he never had.

George Zimmerman’s lawyer seeks to limit pretrial publicity
“He’s going to try the case in court, not in the press, and I admire that,” said Jeff Ashton, who retired last year as the lead homicide prosecutor for the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office. “I don’t expect to see Mark out there giving his opinion [on TV] as much as some other attorneys have in past, high-profile criminal cases.”
Ashton and O’Mara opposed each other in the 2001 trial of serial killer Frederick Peter Cox, who murdered three prostitutes and tried to kill two other women, and in state and federal trials over execution-style killings known as the 1992 Kissimmee carjacking murders. O’Mara’s clients were convicted in both cases.
“He’s very smart, works very hard, and he’s very professional in the way he does his job,” Ashton said.

But critics say the prosecutor’s zeal to quell critics may have gone too far.
The murder charge is “political prostitution,” said Cheney Mason, the criminal defense attorney who successfully defended last year’s high profile trial of accused child-killer Casey Anthony. “Now I don’t have all the facts — no one does — but you look at what we know of the case, and it looks like the prosecutor bowed to other pressures.”

Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and other so-called leaders of the black community,  who have already convicted Zimmerman in the court of public opinion. During a recent rally in Florida, Jackson screamed that Martin had been “murdered and martyred.” On Capitol Hill, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) concluded that Martin had been “executed for walking while black in a gated community.” And Sharpton has threatened to lead a mass rebellion unless Zimmerman is arrested.
Similar threats were issued in 2006, when both Sharpton and Jackson rushed to judgment against three white students of Duke University’s lacrosse team who were accused of raping a black stripper. The defendants were later vindicated after it was revealed that the lead prosecutor withheld vital DNA evidence from the defense.
