The Florida Supreme Court has upheld the conviction and death sentence of identical twin Donte Hall, who was armed with an AK-47 when he broke into a Eustis house party full of strippers and male patrons before shooting to death two Lake County men during a robbery.

Hall’s lawyers also had argued in a futile attempt that the death sentence was “disproportionate’ because his twin brother, Dante, was only sentenced to life; and his stripper girlfriend, who helped set up the robbery, was sentenced to 10 years.

Orlando couple charged in bust of Hillsborough swingers club
An Orlando husband and wife are among four people facing charges after detectives shut down a suspected swingers club in Hillsborough County on Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The sting came after a six-week investigation, officials said, which followed complaints from neighbors that a swingers club was being run out of a home on Brightridge Drive in Seffner.
Detectives said they found that the home had been converted from a residence to a club with all three bedrooms lined wall-to-wall with beds and a stripper pole in living room.
They also found was what authorities described as a “spanking table,” as well as big-screen televisions that were playing pornographic films, the Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
Investigators say owners Steven Bowers, 56, and wife Cynthia Bowers, 55, were leasing the home and operated the club. Couples got in free, cops say, but singles paid a fee.

Florida is packed with a million things. Heck, there’s more real (and artificial) America that’s trickled down into Florida over the last half-century than in most states. That’s doubly true for Orlando, the state’s defacto central-most city. Now take that, and the amped-up entertainment precedent in the area (ranging from strip clubs to Disney World to The Holy Land Experience) and try making a music festival to compete. Imagine you have tons of money and experience in putting on festivals, but have never put on a gig in America before.
That’s the position Festival Republic was in with Orlando Calling: trying to be all things to all people. In a place like Orlando, FL, you can hardly blame the folks behind Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury in the U.K. for going big and going hard with that – it’s the only way they know. And God bless ‘em for booking stylistically diverse (you could argue nonsensically disparate) acts like The Raconteurs, The Roots and Drive-By Truckers, all performing simultaneously Saturday night.

Winter Park Residents Unhappy About New Strip Club

A new strip club is about to open in the same spot where another controversial strip club used to be in Winter Park.
The new club will replace Club Harem off Lee Road. It’s opening even though some say the city tried to shut down the old strip club.
The city of Winter Park just paid $250,000 to settle a lawsuit with the owners of Club Harem.
The owners claimed the city tried repeatedly to push them out of town by harassing them with unwarranted undercover raids because they didn’t want their city associated with a strip club.

Club Harem already had a license to operate a strip club when Winter Park annexed this property from Orange County years ago.

Orlando Strip Clubs: Viewing For Deceased Pastor Draws Big Crowds

The 42-year-old megachurch pastor was found dead in a New York hotel room last Friday, but there are still unanswered questions about his death.
His autopsy was inconclusive, but police have told the media they suspect Tims died of a drug overdose. The New York Medical Examiner’s Office has not released a cause of death yet, and police have also said they do not suspect foul play.
Though his death is shrouded with uncertainties, his parishioners remain faithful.
“Right now it’s all speculation. And, even if it was true, I would never say anything negative about him,” said church member Selby Hemmans.
In 15 years, Tims built one of the most successful churches in Central Florida from the ground up. It is currently more than 8,000 members strong.
Tims died leaving an ex-wife and four children. The couple divorced in 2009 after Tims admitted to a year-long affair with a stripper.
